thanks +rep DLNA is a set of guidelines/standards for home networking media devices that allows you to connect across a network to easily stream movies/pics/music from one device to another, so like I could stream from my computer movies to the "android TV"

I haven't seen any pre-installed apps that will do that, but people have installed apps like XBMC for samba shares.

The wireless is pretty terrible. I doubt it would sustain playback. I assume they are using a USB to Ethernet adapter.

Well, when I say terrible, I meant doubly terrible. The range is bad and the speeds are bad. You will probably be in range at 20 feet, but even if you have it right next to your router, most people only ever see 1Mbps.

See here. And actually, according to at least one person in there, the speeds are slow with USB to Ethernet as well.

Few things of note for anyone that's interested:

1. 1080p is actually an upscaled 720p, which I was unaware of when purchasing. This can be fixed by running a Linux build, the latest firmware, or a custom ROM.
2. You cannot shut it off shy of unplugging it, so it gets extremely hot. I picked up some heatsinks from Newegg and will report how that goes. I've also read that turning off WiFi helps.
3. My screen would randomly flicker as if the HDMI was being pulled and plugged back in. This has been fixed (so far) by updating the firmware.
4. My USB drive would disconnect and reconnect. I had chalked this up to the included USB hub, but I threw that out at the same time I updated the firmware, so I don't know which was the cause.
5. The WiFi, as mentioned in my previous couple posts, is crap. Some people have routed the wire and antenna outside of the case, or even soldered the wire to a better antenna. But considering there are reports of USB to Ethernet being equally slow, I don't know what's up.
6. I've not been able to get XBMC working. It is unbearably slow. The stock media player has played everything just fine, so I haven't bothered figuring out the issue. Could be the XBMC builds I tried, or it could be the device.
7. Lastly, and most important: there are several knock-off clones floating around. I think mine may be a clone. Whether or not that's caused any of my above problems, I can't say.

After updating it, it does what I want. I've been through so many media player devices that don't play certain types of files. This has played everything I've thrown at it, and if something fails, I can always load Linux w/ VLC onto it which will play everything under the sun. I really wish the WiFi was better for streaming, YT and browsing the web, but there's nothing I can do about that.

So, if you're like me and just want something to play videos via USB, this will work and is pretty cheap. For... any other use, I would look elsewhere.

I think that getting a WiFi dongle or a Bluetooth dongle operational on that things needs just a "right" firmware as as long as there is an USB connection all it should take is the OS having a drivers for the device. Now not sure if it would be able to increase performance though, as as far as I understand the single core chip in there itself is not exactly the fastest ARM core on Earth and there is on top of that only one of these in there.
