Do you mean spindley and breakable, no . . . but
To me they seem wayyyy over-engineered to where they try too hard to be all things for all purposes.
The way the plastic molds, they tend to toe in at the top and that makes them not want to stay in their tracks very well, unless you have a full size HDD in it. . . . . Or a 3.5" to 2.5" adapter for mounting SSD's
The flip side is that they are easier to get a regular HDD / adapter in than before.
The pad for mounting an SSD (or other 2.5" drive) is solid enough to be a backing plate for a cpu waterblock, and because of that, needs longer 3mm screws than when mounting a drive in a sheet metal platform, which I didn't see included.
The little finger tabs look like a great idea, untill you realize that they are in the way to cable up anything anywhere near by.
Smaller and simpler would have been much more usable.
Overall, they're kind of a solution to a non-problem, with problems of their own.
I never did understand the reasoning for the change in HDD mounting from the phantom to the 410.
The phantom lets you pull out a HDD from the left side, so you only need to unplug that one drive.
The 410 changed all that to where you have to unplug the whole column to pull a drive out past all the cabling.
The 810 and now the 820 continue that change.
While it allows for a flat ended drive cage that they can put a logo on, the lack of drive swapout friendliness seems a high price to the user.
Here's a pic of a brand new HDD mount, you can see it's bowed in at the top a bit, and pulls together at the front to where the little lock tabs that are supposed to lock it in the housing, don't engage their holes to do their job in all cases.
The super easy solution for mounting an SSD if you want to use the drive bays, is to use an adapter.
I swear by these Silverstone SDP08's.
It fits the new plastic caddy and lets you put 2 SSD's per drive slot, and all the screws come with it and fit.
