Evening all, I have an unique question. I'm planning a build for later this year (Black Friday sales ftw). The computer is being built inside a Phantom 820 and I'd like it to look rather nice, including splurging on some Corsair Dominator Platinum RAM.
Right now I'm stuck between two CPU coolers, the NZXT Kraken x40 and the Corsair H80i which have similar cooling capabilities.
Now there are 4 scenarios:
1-Kraken x40 as rear exhaust
2-Corsair H80i as rear exhaust
3-Kraken x40 as Top exhaust (Is this even possible if i leave the stock 200mm fan Top? 200 + 140?)
4-Corsair H80i as Top exhaust (ditto about 200 + 140)
One of the x40's features is the longer than average water tubing, which looks like it may be so long it starts to cover up the RAM.
On the other hand, the H80i has shorter tubing making it ideal for rear exhaust, however I'm not sure the tubing is long enough to act as Top exhaust in a Phantom 820 (plus i just like the look of the x40 more). Also, I have no intention of buying a second 200mm fan for the open Top Mount, so top-mounting the cooler as exhaust is basically a "freebie"
Does anyone here have experience with either cooler in a Phantom 820? If so, what do you think about mounting options? I'm less concerned with the water tube laying atop the MOBO or even GPU, however I'd like to showcase the RAM if possible. Thanks!
