not so much moving chassis or through shipping or anything like that - just the general black thumbscrews on back where I have unscrewed them and screwed them back the paint has started to come off - but as i mentioned I expect this a little so its not a major issue for me and you can hardly see it

Is anyone using the Phantom 820 with a Seasonic x-850? I'm just wondering if all the cables will fit.

I'm using a Corsair AX860 with the sleeved cable set... dimensionally it's about the same. Lengths are way more than fine enough with both the stock and sleeved cable sets. Given that Seasonic is the OEM for this model psu, I'd imagine you shouldn't have to worry about this at all.

Anyone know off the top of their head if the 820 can fit a quad rad easily? I know the basi logs say it can't, but has anyone tried doing this other ways?

Sorta depends on your definititions of "easily" and "other ways".

The only way that you can mate a 480 with the 820 is to hang it on the back with a Koolance style bracket.

If you want to go the 560 route, and you're good with tools, have a flair for pretty radical mods, and have an extra 820 to work with, then you can make room for a pair of 560's.

And if you're certifiably insane, good with tools, live for radical mods, and have three 820's to work with, then a pair of 840's can be made to fit.

In truth, I think NZXT dropped the ball as far as rad support when they designed the 820.

The bean counters who were looking to keep costs down and a quick time to production won this round.

The guys who decide what the case needs to support to appeal to buyers at that price point musta been on vacation.

For being their hi-end, flag ship case, they should have just accepted the increased developement and production costs to make it dimensionally capable of supporting a 420 up top as the far less expensive switch 810 does.

That has to have had a seriously negative impact on sales.

Still a Phantom fangirl, but tellin' it like is is,

Aye. Thanks for the reply. I have looked into mounting it elsewhere but keep running into a few problems. I could potentially take out the top bays, but what's the point? None. In debating on modding a bit on the side of the case to fit it. Could look good and still have use in fan cooling and with liquid cooling. But it might take a few weeks to come up with a decent idea plan, a lots of time that I honestly do no wish to spen on modding ATM. While I enjoy the thrill of throwing myself into a build where I can completely go all out, I wish not to do that with the 820. But I would love to do it with the 900d. Making a bus for the 900d would be sweet. But I digress. I will further look into the 420 mounting and if I come up with easy Ideas, I will share to those who don't mind a little bit of modding. I will be sure to let people in on what I find.

You'd have to do some cutting to the rad mounting area, but a 420 in the 820 looks do-able from a physical perspective.

It's all the cabling for the usb and fan controller / hue that routs down at the front that's the real issue.

You'd have to do some cutting to resize / reshape the cable cutouts in the top panel, but that too, looks do-able, although I have not ried it . . . Yet.

Case demnsions being 24" and 25" I believe, and the rad is 20" I think. I have the room somewhere in there, I just need to do some minor tweaks. I'll see what I Candice when it comes to that. But till I really get around to it, I'll just leave it the way it is.

Been working on the pump / res setups for the stretch build, thought maybe a lil' preview would raise an eyebrow or two.

Bitspower really needs to start making these dual res adapter blocks for the dual D5 pump tops.

These suckers are a whole frickin' shedload of work, wayyy more than it appears, but damn they look cool . . . .

and make another one of a kind mod on my buiild.

Now I need to order more parts so I can build out the res setups . . . triple loops; red, white & blue thumb.gif
