Stories of being a bit TOO into a game? - Page 6

Lol yeah I used to get way into games - at one point, I ran 5 accounts in EQ1, for 19 hours straight, trying to farm up a singing sword(Epic 1.0, Kunark era) for my bard. Of that 13 hours was spent trying to farm Eldrig the Old in Skyfire mountains, only to find out at the veeery end, that his spawn was broken and they were patching him back in in a week. This was in like 2001 or so, but I still remember when I found out his spawn was broken, I just walked away from the computers s and didn't go back til the next day.

I was REALLY into Runescape a few years ago in elementary school. Nothing would separate me from the screen. My routine consisted of going to school and playing Runescape as long as I could (I'd say around 7 hours everyday). I gained a lot of weight eating crap all day for two years and not exercising (was around 40 in the beginning of 9th grade, and weighed around 60kg by the beginning of 6th grade). I couldn't wear my clothes properly and my eyesight worsened. I had no friends, cared little about my family, and played the game the whole day on my 10th birthday. Eventually, puberty, exercise, and some magic stuff could fruits and veggies saved the day, and shaved off the excess weight and fat I had. I vowed not to play again. Well, sort of. I quit because someone got into my account and took all my stuff. That was a rather fortunate event for me strangely. I cannot imagine how I would have ended up now if I continued playing.

Wow. And I thought my brother was into the game. Well, puberty does tend to do the magic.

Anyways, the games are just games. I didn't finish Portal 1 yet, but whenever I get stuck on a level I get frustrated, which drives me on and makes an infinite loop. I got it for free from Valve as well. Never got to finishing it.

When i first discovered Minecraft back in alpha, I played it NON STOP. I didn't stop playing it non stop until about the end of summer break when school came up and kicked my butt. Probably put in over 1000 hours rolleyes.gif

I was big into runescape once. That's about it, everything else fizzles out over time or until the next version comes out.

I was definitely addicted to cod2. Because I lived so far away from my friends for the first half of high school i would sometimes play for 20 hours a day (no exaggeration). It got a point where i had people all over the world i played with, because when one lot went to sleep i'd just get in touch with the other group on vent and join them in a midnight game.

It got so bad that when i went to my uncles for a week i had withdrawal symptoms and had to play medal of honor on his PS2 in the middle of the night.

That was really not a healthy time. Now i only play for a few hours a day.

Edit: It's actually the reason i Joined OCN. I got windows vista for christmas and it wouldn't work on it, lol.

CS probably produces the most amount of rage. I've found it's mostly because the people you play against are typically very good and if you're even the slightest bit off that day it seems like you've all of a sudden become a noob. Once you start a bad round it just goes downhill from there..... and you can't quit until you have at least one good round or your keyboard no longer functions...

True, CS is suffering from no influx of new players because a new player will get destroyed. Even average CS players are INSANELY difficult to catch up to now as the skill level is just that High.

All you have to do is watch Incorporated 2 or 3 on Youtube to see how good people are at CS/ and Source

Hasn't happened to me personally, but I can't play LoL or DoTA 2. I Skype with people who play it most of the time during the calls, and they never stop raging at yet again everyone in their teams being idiots and ******* and feeders etc. They've asked me to play numerous times but I don't want to play a game which everyone takes so dead seriously and gets upset about.

Of course, drunken awesome sprees in Bad Company 2 or CS: Source gungame don't count, then I'll scream so loud you can only hear distortion and mindless cackling, but that's more if getting into it and not too intimate and emotional biggrin.gif
