AHH! Resolution Problem!

Thread Starter
ok when I boot my pc I got to the windows loading screen, and as soon as I pass that stage my monitor goes out of sync. My current res is to high for my monitor because I just switched from a widescreen LCD (1368x768) to a much worse crt monitor. I have to boot into vga mode for it to be able to sync at all but I don't know how to change the standard resolution whilst I'm in VGA mode (could probably get to safe mode too) So I need to find out how to change the default resolution from vga mode (settings that are applied while in vga mode threw the display properties won't stay after I reboot... I need help!

Try this.

1. Boot into safe mode.

2. Delete your display adapter from device manager. (it may say that it needs to uninstall drivers, if so follow the steps.)

3. Reboot normally.

4. Change resolution/reinstall drivers.

Give that a shot.

Boot to safe mode then uninstall the drivers for the videocard. It will default to something like 800x600 @ 60hz. Then reinstall drivers and set it to what you like.
