reinstalling this os takes me 3 hours just because of the volume of updates there are. With a service pack i don't have to wait as long.

Then when you install Microsoft Office, here's another 25-40 updates. Fun fun smile.gif
I have a really fast computer and internet speed. It's just annoying when it takes its sweet time updating so many things after another. It goes by relatively fast but still would be more convenient if they just provided a SP2 if they're going to have extended support for W7 until 2020.

Giving W7 the backseat when it comes to support just to gain the majority numbers for Windows 8 x_x

And instead of dealing with 200 separate updates, it's just one service pack.

If you clicked on the link in the article, it goes to Microsoft's webpage.
http://support.microsoft.com/lifecycle/search/default.aspx?alpha=Windows+7
There are three cycles: Lifecycle Start Date --- Mainstream Support End Date --- Extended Support End Date

Someone will create an unofficial service pack anyways, just like Windows 98 2.1a was, so there's really no big deal.
