THIS, it's the very reason back in the xp SP3 days that you didn't use an SP2 cd anymore, you used an SP3 cd to save some time.

Im confused in the OP, where does the year 2020 come into play. Doesnt it state that the life cycle is going to be over 24mo from the most recent SP which they state was in Feb of 2011...so wouldnt that actually make it Feb 2013?

Where did this 2020 come from? lol

Isn't negativity towards this news basically a complaint that there aren't enough problems in Windows 7 to warrant a service pack?

So the actual problem is that Windows 7 doesn't have enough problems?

So just to conclude this thread.

We hate Windows 7 because there aren't enough problems.

We hate Windows 8 because there are too many problems.

Then computer enthusiasts wonder why companies don't care for our opinion anymore.

We asked for Dark Souls, all we did is have temper tantrums every time they released some information about.

They simply cannot win with us. We're the spoiled brat in the corner who just likes to complain for the sake of complaining.

The SP2 wouldn't address problems that haven't been addressed already. It would merely roll up all the updates that have come out since SP1 and thereby save time when doing a fresh install. As it stands when doing an install with a SP1 iso, there will still be 80 or so updates that need downloaded. This would be avoided with SP2.

I think a Windows 7 service pack with some speed improvements from 8 would be a good idea.

I think it would be great as well. Not gonna happen though. Like I said, if a SP2 came out, it would merely be a update rollup, just like SP1 was. This isn't like Windows XP where the SP's included entirely new features.
