New Monitor for Chritsmas - Page 4

Unless you get a display with the correct PCB/TCON - theres no way youre going to get 120hz...at most you might be able to push it to 65hz, even 70hz is losing bet. Shimian and CrossOver have released "125hz+" monitors but due to included scalars they ultimately skip frames.

Overlord is a great choice (i myself have an OC on preorder) - the ME/SE versions shipped out earlier this week and people seem to love them (esp the people who havent experienced 1440p IPS before)

You definately wont get in on this batch of 120hz displays - but you can probably get in on the next batch...

Theres no guarantee of overclock , so if you go that route make sure youre aware.
If you go the shimian route just prepare yourself for the possibility of maybe getting some or multiple defects more easily then none. I debated for a long time because i was afraid of what ive heard, i have many dead pixels in right corner a few blobs in center a few other dead pixels around and noise upon turning on at times it drives me crazy but how good the resolution and pq keeps having me want to keep it
I primarily play bf3 and its amazing, i can see so much more and clearer and I dont have any lag.( but i do have a 7970)
On desktop i thought i would never use it but its nice to be able to have multiple windows open:ie stream a video while i search/ have explorer and internet/ music player open.
I always keep looking at my screens defects but all theses good things just push me to keep it (especially only around $300 USD!), dont know if i could go back to a different resolution. If you go my route as well make sure to use a cc with paypal, in case you have major issues or issues you have are to much for you and seller doesnt want to help you with return shipping( which theyre not required and they probably wont and they cant come to a resolution with you) just charge them back, see if they try to resolve then.

Figured it out. Going with the PP, SE model. Great price per performance. All the comments I have read give it raving reviews. The picture depth is so vivid, and sharp. I'm also sure I know the main reason why they are so backed up on ME models. Multiple inputs. Input lag. Too bad. While I can hope for good oc head room. I will not hold my breath. Besides, everyone says the 1440 will take my breath away.

I've been keeping my eye on the SE version. They have 4 in stock and it seems to be sitting there. If Its ordered tomorrow, it would arrive in the first week of november. The 5th - 9th I would guess. Hopefully I can get one before they run out, because I don't want to be sitting around waiting for a new batch to get shipped in. thumb.gif

I think I will enjoy the depth of 1440 before I start worrying about Hz too too much. If it really gets under my skin, Ill sell a kidney of something, rolleyes.gif
