I have been looking for an Android smartphone, my first smartphone, and I want something that has a front facing camera, lets the user browse the web, and have GPS and navigation capabilities.

I came across the Samsung Galaxy Exhibit II 4G, for around $120 slightly used on ebay. It seems like a good phone, with the right features I am looking for.

But being someone who hasn't been in the whole smartphone world, I have no idea what other phones there are.
I am using T-Mobile prepaid now, and I wont be switching to monthly, and won't use 4G or 3G, only wifi.

So any good android smartphones under $150?

You can get a motorola atrix or photon. I have the atrix and it's quite nice but it won't be receiving the ICS update from Motorola and I don't know if you will be rooting your phone so I'm just throwing it out there. The phone has a dual core cpu, 4 inch display, 1GB of ram, 5MP back camera, 0.3 MP front camera and 1950 mah battery. It can do pretty much anything you want to and it's relatively cheap.

TMobile sells that Exhibit, new, for $179; they also offer $50 prepaid card - so, you get a new phone for $129.

Save the PP card for when you need it. Yes, the GOLD is by how much you spend in a given time. So you do not have to go 100$ at once. For a non-att phone you would have to get it sim unlocked, unless it is a true international phone.
Depending on the phone, there is plenty of custom rom development and most can run 4.0/ICS

I know about CM9, but it might stop other things from not working, ie camera.

You can dual boot by making an sd card bootable with cm9 f.ex.
You can get used stuff for that price, check the marketplace here...

Not sure about the newer phones, but I know that on my HD2 when running android from the sd card battery life sucked.

Seems like smartphones all in all have shorter battery lifes compared to cheap $20 flip up or slide phones.

I bought the Motorola Atrix 4g BTW.
Thanks to "Capt" for the recommendation. For $180 on ebay like new already unlocked with original batteries/accessories.

Thanks everybody for the help as well. Let's just see how my first smartphone experience is like, and I will move on from there.

Saving for a iPhone 5 afterwards! haha, yeah right.
