Move from HDD to SSD

Thread Starter
Hello, I need to reinstall win 7 tommorow and I'm not getting an SSD for at least a month but I want to see if I can avoid having to reinstall when I get the SSD as well as right now. What If I reinstalled tommorow on a 100GB partiton and then when I got the SSD just clone it to the SSD and expand it to 120 or 128GB?

Would this work?

yep should work without an issue mate. thumb.gif Don't forget to optimise windows for the SSD. Heres a link for you to follow - http://blog.ocztechnology.com/?p=178

I used Acronis Trueimage when I did mine without a problem

Short answer: Yes.

Long answer: No.

I kid, yes, it's possible using something like Acronis Trueimage or (the far superior) Clonezilla.

Acronis True image over clonezilla! I can't even understand what the heck you are suppose to choose when going though clonezilla lol. True image is so easy and works great! biggrin.gif

Also, there are many other cloning/partition backup softwares out there too that will work fine.
