Any benchmark request going from 1090T to FX-8320? - Page 2

will you do clock for clock based on how far you can push your thuban?

wprime, super pi, maybe.

benchmarks like the 3d marks will be influenced by other factor like oc and new drivers. this is before 12.11, which my intel rig saw just under 2000 points more on the same test. . .

is the FX 8320 really better than an ivy I5? cause all the reviews I've seen have said the contrary and I really want it to be better, hoping to get one soon and switch out my 1090T

Depends on what you do. Painting with a broad brushstroke, Vishera paddles i5s on most highly threaded applications and is paddled in turn on most single-threaded ones. Power consumption is high compared with Ivy but much improved over the 'Dozer.

AMD is pretty much back to square one (with the exception of power consumption),BD beat the SB i5's highly threaded apps but lost badly in nearly anything else. With Intel releasing Haswell soon,AMD will be behind again. Timetolivecustom's review really made me not want to get a Vishera chip, either he's biased or got a bad cpu sample.

I saw the same review which left me with doubts as to getting a piledriver.

I've always been rooting for AMD, might get one if I can get an 8320 or 8350 for under $180 so I have something to put in my am3+ . My CAD software will benefit from it.

BD and PD only looses silly on single threaded applications. Starcraft 2, WoW, Arma2, mostly dx9 games. It's either very close or better on anything properly multi-threaded. There are x264 single threaded benchmarks on net that shows a large gap too.

If you are sick on "I WANT BEST PERFORMANCE" get e.g. 3770k. If not, get whichever is cheaper. 2500k, 2700k, 3570k, fx-8320, etc.

NOTE: There's absolutely NO REASON to upgrade if your Thuban can do 4ghz+ speeds.
