Comp science major questions

Thread Starter
So right now in community college taking standard classes like eng and math. I have been wondering if pursuing comp science is worth it? Is this major in great demand? And what jobs could I land with this major? I've been thinking of transferring to temple when I'm done here at community.
What type of class work would I be doing in this major? Will I have any free time?

Is it worth it? Absolutely.

Is it in great demand? One of the highest majors presently in demand.

The range of jobs that you could get are numerous. You could end up doing analytics, obviously....programming, etc.

Why don't you check out the curriculum for comp sci at Temple, and see if the stuff interests you.

Will you have free time? That depends on how seriously you take your grades. You will have projects due every week...every two weeks and you have to make time to get them done.

You probably want to take time to reflect on it more to decide what you would like to do. Right now, it seems like you are just "meh" on it, and computer science, to me, isn't a major you can be "meh" on. You need to really be into it in order to get through the classes, as well as your job. I hope that I helped.

I would recommend CPE instead. Computer engineering is harder, but you will learn more and it will be easier to find not just a job, but the job you want.

What do you mean?

The opportunities are endless, but you really have to carefully consider what you'd like to go into before you start. If you do some job searching you will see the myriad of choices available. To get ahead you will want to know specifically what you'd like to do.
