i5 750 overclocking

Thread Starter
So I have an old system, I've done my research, been browsing on these forums for a while now.

I've just been tinkering with my system and so far I've gotten the system to run at around 3.7GHz - stable

I was wondering if it's worth it to try to juice it a little more to hit the 4GHz?

And if I were to what settings do I need to tinker to get up there?

Any input would be great, thanks everyone.

Depending on the chip you can usually achieve 4GHz from 1.30 - 1.35v.

I was able to get my i5-750 gaming stable at 1.31v but it wasn't F@H stable unless I had it on 1.34v.

I have the i5-750

I'll try following - i5/i7 LGA 1156 overclocking guide (to 4GHz~) guide to see how far I can get, I'll post my results soon.

got my i5 760 to 4ghz just fine, just pump the voltage if you have to as long as you don't hit 1.5

Remove one of the ram sticks, I don't imagine why you have three sticks installed on a dual channel system. Increase the multiplier to stock (20) and turn off all power saving features.

So I've listed to Poisoner - removed a stick of ram.. noob'd that

At 100% load currently with my settings my chip is heating up quick, i'm hitting 90-95 degrees.
And this is only at the 2minute mark of the test in LinX

Is my Cooler Master Hyper 212 Plus not sufficient enough to cool it down?

So I've ran Prime95 for 8 hours, blend ~
One worker failed about 2minutes into the test
The other ran for 8 hours straight.

The max temp while running the tests I've hit was 83

Any tips for me? Or suggestions

Are you running push/pull on the heatsink you have?

Temps look about right for a hyper 212 with 1 fan.

So it's been a little bit, and I've been tinkering with my setup.

I applied some new paste onto my CPU and readjusted the sitting of my HS/Fan, added a second fan for the Push/Pull effect.

Idle temps I am getting are 37-42

I can hit 3.8Ghz no problem stable with Prime running for 18hr+, but I still want to try to hit 4/4.2Ghz

I got it up to 4Ghz but a worker will fail around the 14hr mark of Prime.

I'll post my Bios settings once I get back home, had a red eye shift and didn't have time to post lately.

Thanks for the contribution guys.

Hey there. Just dropped in to bump for update. I'm curious about how it went and what settings you used!
I've got an i5 750 myself on a P7P55D EVO and just started OC'ing it.
