Battlefield 3 Xbox 360 controller problem

Thread Starter
This is copy and pasted from the BF3 thread - but seeing as it got lost in the conversation about MOH, I thought to post it in a new thread instead:

I know some of you HATE consoles and controllers - but for the very few that have controllers, and have played on the Xbox:
For sprinting on the xbox (incl boosting in tanks):
When you want to sprint, you click the left thumbstick, and then you can let go, and the sprint will still be "registered" as you sprinting

On PC with a controller however - you have to HOLD down the left thumbstick constantly (which hurts your left thumb after 1hr - and will probably wear the controller right down) - Is there any work-around this?

Cheers

I also noticed this. I think it is not possible because if you want to run using a keyboard you tap it twice. The controller basically emulates the keyboard strokes and I think it can't register it as it's a double tap. Could be wrong though so let's see if anyone else comments.

EDIT:

Just found this http://pinnaclegameprofiler.com/forum/showthread.php?23232-Battlefield-3 it allows the hold down sprint but you need Pinnacle Game Profiler.

indeed PGP - is something I've looked into - but I'm not sure/keen on it.
Any ideas what it does etc?

Got to say it is TYPICAL EA isn't it?

Been playing borderlands 2 for a while now, and it is very clever in picking up which you are using.
I could be using the keyboard, (where it will be displaying "E" to open for example) and as soon as I start using the controller - BANG it changes to "X to reload" - whilst in BF3....oh no that's too complicated for EA...let's just screw users by still saying "Get in vehicle "E" " instead of making that active switch to the controller.

So there must be something up with BF3 - as borderlands has the same setup, run for shift, and holding it down.

When I sprint in BF3 while using a controller I will tap the stick then start running. For some reason (for me) if I tap the stick once then start running it will sprint without having to hold the stick down the entire time. Just have to time it right every time but after a while it just becomes second hand.

I don't use my original 360 controller for my PC because it is wireless, so that might be the case. I have an aftermarket wired one that I use.

It does the exact same thing for me. I currently have 500 hours and it always been the case.
