Sapphire 7950 OC edition (Dual Bios) / Catalyst 12.11 Beta / MSI Afterburner 2.2.4 - issue???

Hello!

I know the title is a mouthful, but I needed to reach out to Team Red afficionados and confirm which of the three could be the reason for my issue.

I recently switched over from a Palit GTX 460 Sonic to a Sapphire 7950 OC edition. The only reason that I look at when buying any graphics card is pure bang for the buck performance. In this case, the 7950 was only $347 dollars versus the cheapest 670 at $409. For the same performance level (give and take between games for both) I felt going AMD this time was the more prudent choice.

Now onto my problem and another summary before someone says I didn't do a clean install.... I did do a clean install from windows XP to windows 7 and used the 12.9 drivers initially. After installing all the necessary things for my PC, I finally tried out the game titles I had since I was stoked to see the difference in performance from my previous card.

I first installed Skyrim and never had or have any problems with it. All settings are maxed MSAA x8 and AF x16, game runs beautifully. I then tried out BF3, no issues as well max settings at MSAA x8 and AF x16. I then decided to install Crysis when 'issues' started appearing. The game plays great (in terms of fps), but once i get into intense fighting or start swimming around I start seeing flashes of color or small white dots while playing in-game.

I tried it on stock speeds and volts which are the following:

1031mv core
900 Mhz core speed
1250 Mhz memory speed
1600mV memory core

I still have the same issue, but when I try it in Skyrim or BF3 I don't see them. I also tried upping the voltage to 1050mV, 1075mV and 1100mV and still get the same result in Crysis.

Is this a catalyst problem or something else? I'm assuming this because the other games run fine except for Crysis.

Hopefully I can get some good advice here, if not I'll probably return the card and try to get a replacement or worse case, go green since I don't recall ever having any problems with my 460 or my 8800GTS ever for any of the games I've ever played.

Firstly leave everything at stock settings. try Crysis with 12.8 WHQL drivers. a few other benchmarks to test whether the card is working properly are Heaven 3.0, 3D Mark 11. Make sure everything is working fine. if there are artifacts in any of these apps its mostly faulty.

I'll do that tonight when I get home. Ugggghhhh, it's such a pain to do the driver sweeper bit just to re-install a different driver...

I re-installed 12.8 and ran the following:

3DMark11 @
900/1250 - passed
1000/1500 - passed

Kumbustor @ 15 minute GPU burn in test 1920x1080 no AA
900/1250 - passed
1000/1500 - passed

Skyrim gaming for 2 hours
900/1250 - passed
1000/1500 - passed

Crysis gaming for 2 hours
900/1250 - passed
1000/1500 - passed

BF3 gaming for 2 hours
900/1250 - passed
1000/1500 - passed

I'm really disappointed with 12.11 beta, specially that it showed some fps increase in a lot of games. I guess I wait for the WHQL version of 12.11 (or whatever the next iteration is after 12.10 which is posted).
