Cheapo Intel Build HELP

Thread Starter
Hi guys, looking to build a computer for my mom's house. Mind you she doesn't play games but i go over there after work a few times a week and would like to have a gaming rig waiting for me to run BF3, SC2, GW2, WoW maybe any new games coming out. Of course since ill only use it like 10 hours a month i want to keep it cheap as hell but still have a machine i don't have tho upgrade for years. I already have some components from another rig that i can use in this new one.

What I have:
25 inch 1080p monitor
8GB DD3 1333 ram
500GB Caviar Black HDD
DVD burner
Gaming Mouse and keyboard
600 W power supply
Windows 7

What I need:
Case
MB
ivy bridge proc
SSD
GPU
And anything else i might need.

Thank you in advance for any suggestions. I dont really have a budget per say (700$ Max) but i want to keep it as cheap as possible I already have a gaming rig at home.

A case is personal, at any web store, just type in price range of what you want to pay and look at which ones are on offer and that you'd want to buy. Look at a review or two as well.

For mobo go asRock, Gigabyte, Asus or MSI depending on what i5 3570 you want to invest in. The i5 3570k or the non overclockable i5 3570 (yes that is the CPU I would recommend). So if you want to do some overclocking get a robust mobo, if not, get a cheap reliable mobo.

For SSD go Samsung, they are in a transition to a new model, so you can get some real deals on the 830 model.

And of course for a good gaming system that will last a few years but yet still budget conscious get the 7950.

Ehh if you want to keep it as cheap as possible, grab a APU, and hybrid xfire it. You will be able to play all games, and it will suit her needs plenty. It should be pretty cheap as well.... What does she need the rig for?

"Cheap as hell" and "Gaming rig", are not two things you can put in the same scentence. You can build a gaming rig at a good price that will last a decent amount of time, but "cheap as hell", no. In order for a gaming system to last as long as possible you are going to want to get a K Series Quad Core CPU (dual cores have had their day for a while now) so you can overclock it as much as possible to extend the gaming systems life as much as possible, as such you are going to want at least a reasonable mainboard, PSU and memory.

With that in mind;

APEVIA X-JUPITER-JR G-Type X-JPJGT-AL Silver SECC Steel ATX Mid Tower Computer Case $30 (You just need something that looks alright with decent quality that gets the job done)
ASRock Z77 Extreme3 $120
G.SKILL Ripjaws X Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3 1600 F3-12800CL9D-8GBXL $40 (you REALLY don't want to be using memory that runs slower than this, and this memory kit will OC well)
Core i5 3330 (if you REALLY have to same some cash) $190 / Core i5 3570K $230
PowerColor AX7850 2GBD5-DH Radeon HD 7850 2GB $185
A SSD is unnecessary, but if you REALLY have to have one.. Crucial C300.

Total $605, all shopping done on newegg.

Also, make ABSOLUTELY CERTAIN that "600w PSU" you intend to use is at least half decent with a strong 12v rail.
OP what brand and model power supply do you have. what is the current on +12v rail.

Do you really need to game when you got to your mum's house? Would make the build a lot cheaper to not get a high end GPU...
