For me, No I will not be updating to W8 for my desktops. I love the "classic" windows design and layout, and I feel that for functionality on a PC W8 is not going to improve my user experience. This is not worth the 3% of performance gain in most games to me.

However, I will be getting a W8 tablet, and I cannot express how excited I am about getting it. M$ true functionality on a tablet is where W8 will shine. I have very high expectations for the O/S in this business! thumb.gif

Finished the install a few minutes ago on my laptop. Upgraded to Win8Pro ($15 key) straight from the Win8 Release Preview, worked fine. I was under the impression I wasn't going to be able to do that but it worked without issue. Have no problems with it right now. Depending on how smoothly this works over the next few weeks, I may upgrade my desktop, but I'm holding off for now.

Nope. I prefer an OS that looks like it's made for the type of hardware I'm running (a desktop pc). Win7 works fine and win8 just looks awkward, even if it is slightly faster under the hood.

I did the whole upgrade assistant thing, purchased digital copy and started installing. But when it restarts for the first time and comes back up with the windows 8 icon on a black screen and the swirling dots, it freezes when in the "Readying Devices" stage at non specific percentages. So im not sure whats going on.

Because some people like myself want the newest and latest versions for everything.

Windows 8 going strong as of yesterday. No problems whatsoever except one driver incompatibility because they haven't updated their drivers.
