I will be moving to Windows 8 b/c I have to buy a new OS so I might as well go with the latest thing available. I tried the release preview. It only took me a couple of weeks to get use to it and I like some of the added features. If I had a legit copy of Windows 7 already, I probably wouldn't change it. I new windows 8 was going to be released so I never bought a copy if windows 7.

Oh well,

After reading some information on the new OS and running it on my laptop (some dongles not working). I have just did a system back up on this computer and will install windows 8.

What the heck we all know that windows 7 will no longer be supported. May as well get the new OS cheap. An if I have to many issues I will just role it back and failing that will do a re-install of 7

The start button is no issue i already put that back on my laptop. Got it here

Humm just purchased and for some reason I had a message flash across the screen about Bill G owning my soul or something........ ;-)

Nope

I have 13 PC's here, certainly not gonna upgrade 13 or any of them in fact with something I don't need and especially don't want...

Win8 is a joke(for PC's). M$ needed to keep that one for phones and tablets. It simply dose not belong on a keyboard mouse/non touch screen interface. There are some performance gain's from win8. Not enough to justify the crap layout though.

$15 for a legitimate OS?

get out of here with your crazy talk. It works FINE with mouse and keyboard and you don't even have to use metro interface.

Running 8 here. No issues. I have pokki installed and haven't really used the windows 8 start menu. Pretty much do everything I do from Pokki. Plus windows 8 has a nice access menu by pressing Win + X key. Allows you to access programs and features, device manager, CMD, etc.

Widows 8 is not another windows vista or windows ME, its a great OS, all you need to download for it is an application called "Start 8" (that adds the start menu back and lets you boot to desktop)

and its as good as windows 7 if not better (I like it a lot better than windows 7 for many reasons, one of those being the quick boot stuff)

I play all my games just fine under windows 8, heck I even play command and conquer generals on it with no issues at all.

Well for better or worse it's installed now. I tend to agree with those saying it is not needed. Except. They will drop support for windows 7 To me it runs like windows 7 now I have put the start menu back. Kind of irritated though cannot seam to get my task bar to the center screen.

Okay, actually it sucks not having a fix for the task bar and all

That's why it shouldn't be on PC. It should be on a tablet or phone, maybe even a netbook/laptop with a touch screen.. but touch screen on my home PC... No thank you.I use it for gaming and happen to like the "old school" mouse and keyboard combo.

Long story short: This OS is for portable touch screen device's, not a desktop.

Ok, so you pay $15 to upgrade Win7.

What did you actually get? You already had a legit copy of Win7; a perfectly working, fine tuned Windows OS. Yes, it dose "work fine" but feels clumsy.

So bottom line:
$15 to trade your start bar for metro. No thank you. I'll wait for the next gen of windows.

Mind you, I'm not saying its a horrible OS. It seems to work just fine. Only that it make's absolutely no sense to me why the released it.

I am not sure if I will upgrade to Windows 8 or wait for the next OS. I bought it for 15$ just so my brother could try it out, he loves messing around with OSs, and I know he didn't registered it so I can still technically use it if I really want to. I think I will wait at least a little while before deciding as things settle down.

what is your problem? I upgraded because I wanted windows 8. I wanted something different. I still have the start menu that was a .5 second FREE download. Getting 8 was $15. Price is going to go up. Foolish not to buy it at $15 if win 8 is ever a thought, but that's great you don't like 8 considering it's the same thing with a few faster tweaks and a *NEW* interface that you don't even have to use. And just because it's friendly for touch screen doesn't mean "it shouldn't be on a pc"! It's called accessibility and 1 os for all your pc and tablet devices. Ya know SEAMLESS technology, say it isn't so!

I enjoy it, you don't...who cares? It was my $15 and you would be surprised at the amount of people who aren't on legitimate win 7, and for $15 for win 8 to be on something legitimate is hell of a deal. It's not like win 7 was/is $15
