I tried 8 pro. I can't stand Metro. It seems so clunky to me, and looking at it makes me want to vomit. Not to mention the new BSOD. I have it installed on my laptop for one thing and one thing only. Smartglass, and that's only because the Android Smartglass app is lax in it's feature set.

I'm quite content with 7.

Exactly, comparing it to Vista? laughable. Comparing it to ME? seriously? just asinine. Calling it a tablet OS just because it has a start screen that benefits touch screens better? Ok enough, stop hating JUST to try and look cool. Lol.

need to get a copy of Server 2008 R2 x64 that is the best most stable Redmond OS i've ever used.

I have two copies, so I guess your first point is already wrong. lol.

Vista was fine and Me was horrific. Windows 8 isn't bad at all, it just has some interesting implementation choices.

Server OS'es are obviously going to be way more stable. 08 R2 x64 is great though

I simply love the constant comparison of Win8 to Vista/ME, and the constant, 'omg Win8 is for tablets! blah bleh blargh". Seriously just goes to show that everyone likes to bandwagon on the hate train. I didn't like the idea of Win8 when it was first being shown, and then I actually used it.

And see, you get that when you DON'T run Surround/Eyefinity tongue.gif My taskbar is ONLY on the monitor I choose, and the Metro menu is ONLY on my main display. If you don't actively game in Surround/Eyefinity, there is absolutely NO reason to run it as your desktop environment.

But I do play games in surround!
And so W8 can wait biggrin.gif

Hmmm, you seem angry...

And numbers sold of anything is no indication that it's a good product. Some people will buy anything if it's new and fuzzy...

Me, I'll stick with Windows 3.1, don't wanna seem too eager...

I have 13 PC's here, most on Win 7 a few still on XP and one old wreck still on Vista. The 6 machines I built in the last 9 months are all running 7. I can't see any possible need to move to Windows 8 at all... 5 of my high end gaming rigs are essentially isolated in what they run. They get:
1). OS.
2). Drivers and utilities required only for Infrastructure.
3). Games.

I have rigs set up for specific games, one with a G27 Driving system that is used for only driving games. That way I can keep the physical set up without always undoing the Steering Wheel...

I don't use any of them for browsing, work, pics, movies, etc. I have Utility machines for the mundane stuff.

And running multiple 30 Inch Dell for gaming is wonderfully excellent... Only 1 rig gets the multiple monitors for playing EVE Online..

Reading these posts quickly it sounds like multiple monitors has some issues under Win 8???

as we said in the posts, not if you are running them in surround or eyefinity. If you have it on activate all displays then there are some driver issues with the corner menus pulling on all 3 monitors, but surround is flawless other than the taskbar isn't centered. it's a huge one.

Here is what I think of windows 8, you will either love it, or hate it. Plane and simple, the start screen is pleasing to me as you can customize it however you want. As far as gaming comes I haven't had any issues with any games I have downloaded.
