Creative XFi Titanium problem PLEASE HELP

Thread Starter
ok, so i need you tech savvy peoples help.

a few days ago, my sound card, a Creative XFi Titanium (not HD, not Fatal1ty, just titanium), started acting up. It wouldn't push sound into the speakers on my gaming rig. (gaming build = Driftingnfsc3's System)

I then restarted my computer to find out that the device would not show up at all in windows device manager.

Here is a list of what i tried already:
  • Clear CMOS (usually works when things don't show up)
  • Reinstalled Windows without any updates except for service pack 1
  • Put the sound card in 2 other computers
  • Tried the sound card that came with my motherboard (PoS MSI Quantum Wave)

now here is the part where I am confused. In the other 2 computers, the sound card not only shows up, but pushes sound to my speakers just fine. Also, the sound card that came with my motherboard WORKS without any issue!! The clear CMOS and reinstalling windows without any updates didn't work.

I thought to myself: is there some kind of conflict software related? However, the card doesn't show up when any drivers are installed and it can't be hardware conflict since my rig hasn't been modified in ages, yet the issue is occurring only recently.

The other 2 rigs general specs (if it helps):

HTPC:
  • Some ZOTAC miniITX motherboard
  • Core i5 650 3.2GHz Dual Core
  • Intel HD Graphics 2000 (iGP)
  • 2x 2GB Mushkin 1600MHz Blackline DDR3

Old Computer:
  • ASUS P5B Deluxe
  • Core 2 Duo e4400 2.0GHz
  • NVidia GeForce 9600GT
  • 4x 2GB Mushkin 1066MHz Blackline DDR2

Also, both these rigs don't have a raid array, while the gaming rig has 2 RAID 0 arrays. Not sure if it matters.

I really don't know what's the issue here...only thing i can think of is if the bios of the graphics card or sound card got updated magically causing some sort of conflict.

Did you reload the creative drivers?
I have had windows 7 updates cuase it to stop working. I just reload right over the old ones and it adds the missing driver and off we go.

Good luck!

Bummer! On Creatives website is a specific driver to make windows 7 see the card. Did you load that one?

http://support.creative.com/Products/ProductDetails.aspx?catID=209&CatName=X-Fi&subCatID=231&subCatName=MIDI+Keyboards&prodID=17927&prodName=Sound+Blaster+X-Fi+Titanium&bTopTwenty=1&VARSET=prodfaq:PRODFAQ_17927,VARSET=CategoryID:209

File Name : PID_W7PCAPP_US_2_11_01.exe - this one.

(Sorry for the rushed answers trying to eat lunch, take a break and still fend off my boss' questions)

Good luck

What drivers are you currently using?

I would:

1. Uninstall the drivers.
2. Use a driver sweeper.
3. Install PAX drivers.

i think i may have a bigger problem on my hands... my system is acting up...it will crash when posting, in the BIOS setup, or as soon as it loads up windows... i am now trying to get this thing running in barebone setup to save all my data on my raid just in case crap goes down.. if it crashes again, im going to swap out the ram. i cleared the CMOS again and only changed the onboard sata controller to RAID mode... so no overclock at all, full stock.

frustrating stuff... sozo.gif

EDIT: by barebones i mean i took off the mouse and the sound card was taken out aswell, only one display, network cable taken off

FINALLY i got my computer after constant crashing... the cause was the power supply. never knew a corsair HX1000W could cause me problems TWICE.

i shall try putting the sound card back in to see if the problem is solved. i also customized my windows 7 image to take out all the audio drivers that come on the installation disc. so that should make things quicker.

imma call it a night...my computer looks like a PC version of fraknenstein at the moment... O.o (its got a second power supply sort of dangling from my motherboard...
