Have you tried messing with other settings? I know that my chip really dislikes C6 states, if I turn it on, even if I pump more voltage, it will became unstable, some folks even like to disable C3, but I have mine on, no problem.

dead tech? on systems that are no longer than a year or 2 old and your also running a AMD Athlon II X3 455 which i would call "dead tech"

All c states are disabled for overclocking, they should be...

Man, get yourself a cookie. Well deserved. That made me crack up. First some Yoda like statement and then the "What, who where, Why" Question. You should be stand up comedian.
4 thumbs up.

OT (at least a bit): When the 3930K came out I was asking myself: Should I get one? Now? Or wait for bla, bla.
I went ALL-IN and got one. Never regret it. Of course the CPU has to see 5GHz but that is only for the lols and normally not 24/7.
So even if you have bad luck and your CPU cant make 5GHz -
you still have a beast. NOW and not in 6-8 month.
E.g. my CPU before that was a Q9550. And it makes a difference if you wait for 3 minutes after you changed something or if it is done in less than a minute. (E.g. Cinema 4D).
