Upgrading ram to an ultrabook question...

Thread Starter
So I bought a Toshiba Ultrabook which so far I like and have not found anything wrong with it except that it comes with only 4GB RAM. I was thinking I could simply open it up and stick another 4GB stick in there. Before doing that I decided to call Toshiba just to make sure I wasn't voding my warranty since most Ultrabooks I know of don't have an easy access/plate for the ram to be upgradd. They told me that if I open the laptop my warranty is voided and they'll notice if I opended it.

So do all companies have that same policy about Ultrabooks? I'm pretty disappointed about this seeing that I like this laptop and if I wanted to get a similar one with more ram I would need to dish out about hundreds more.

that is one of the main reasons i didnt get a laptop. what can i tell you... your ultrabook must be in a new condition, I would only advise to swap the ram yourself if your ultrabook when the warranty ends. other than that swapping the ram in your ultrabook before it ends is risk incase something goes bad and you will have to send it back to Toshiba to get it fixed.

The Samsung Series 5 is the only ultrabook model I've come across that is equipped with an easy access panel for upgrading the RAM (and HDD/SSD).
