Either way, having a turbo boosted 8GHz core without having any part of the CPU disabled is a feat in itself. Even Ivy and Sandy can't manage that.

However... golden chip is golden.

I was worried that this was going to clock similarly to the later Bulldozer chips and get held up in the mid 7's (The best BD chips were the early ones). Glad to see that's not the case!

This is what I was able to validate at ExtravaLANza on cascade cooling (-85°C). Due to the fact that we were on a beta BIOS, I had no option but to overclock all [active] cores. With this 8 core sub, as mentioned, there is probably only one core/module at that frequency. The others are probably sitting safe at 6.5GHz or so.
