3x30" or 5x24"? - Page 2

I was at the same crossroads as you are OP and had 24in eyefinity setup.

Bought a korean just to test it out and it blew away from previous setup.

Three months later and I got two more koreans incoming with Displayport Adapters to run them and a third 7950 for trifire goodness.

Go for 27inX3 Better priceVsPerformance and it saves ya more cash to upgrade the rig.

Also you gonna save nearly 1500$ for going on 27in instead of 30in so you can spank that cash on some custom water cooling... them 7970s are going to be very noisy unless you cool them with water.

It seems like the consensus is Korean 27" panels. I guess I will have to pick up one and see how I like it. I had tried to steer clear because most of them seem to have a curved bezel on the bottom which would make a portrait array kind of awkward, but maybe I can debezel them and work from there. If I like the 3x27", I could even lose my mind and go for a 5x27", but that probably wouldn't work for a gaming (see Mhill2029's post on quality vs. quantity). I will have to experiment to see if I could have all 6 monitors hooked up and use the 5x array for everyday nonsense and switch to the 30" for gaming.

As far as King4x4's comment on the graphics cards, I wouldn't dream of trying a trifire setup without watercooling. It's not just for noise; if you are going to drop that kind of cash on a rig you might as well make it look good.

Finally, is that a floppy drive Remix65? I have not had one since my build circa 2003. The only people I know that still use 3.5" floppies are the military, and to be honest, it wouldn't surprise me if they had a machine that still had a 5.25" drive. What is the appeal for you (is it BIOS related, or something completely different like an original copy of SimCity 2000)?

iphone, speaker tripod clamp thingie, camera lens, cup.

the curved or bigger bezels have also been a turn off for me. there are so many of those manufacturers i dont get why one hasnt thought of thin bezels all round.

I've pretty much settled at this point on 5x24. I've ordered a U2412M and a PA248Q to compare the two, but I think I'm going to use one PA248Q and four 2412Ms for the setup. I decided against the Koreans because of the large bezels and I don't want to deal with the headaches involving power bricks and returns. I will be sure to post pictures of the final result.
