I think being a little annoyed that other companies are benefiting from your decisions is somewhat justified.
Pip Pip!

Not really. What you described there is simply called a competitive market. You make something nobody else has, thats cool, but once you release it your competition is going to analyse the hell out of it and come up with their own versions. Healthy competition, nothing more.

"No! YOU copied OUR TV design!" See where I'm going here with all this patent rubbish?

I don't think it's that the UK uses logic so much as it is the US case had a jury foreman who lied and committed perjury and had been sued by his former employer, Seagate, who is owned by Samsung and put him and his wife into bankruptcy and thus is a CLEAR conflict of interest.

You are completely correct but you do agree with what I said in that the iPad was the cause and the android tablets were the effect.

Though I would put forward that because of the competitive nature of the market it's fair to say that lawsuits are bound to happen as well as "patent wars".

Although you didn't bring this point up I'd like to throw it out there. Apple are not the only company suing the competition. Although you as a user see it as healthy competition, companies like Apple, Samsung, HTC and even Google see it as a reason to either make money or lose money.

Nature of the industry and it won't change.

anyone from UK can post a copy/screenshot of the apology as its on the apple's website?

engadget copy sounds more like an self praise rather then an apology and only indicated that the court ruled it as such

Thats true. If I were Apple I'd stop wasting time with all these retarded lawsuits and instead focus energy and finances into creating something... oh wait.. Apple don't do that they just buy a crapload of patents then try to sue anyone that comes up with something thats vaguely like a patent Apple own. :\

This is the most childish thing apple has done so far. Very unprofessional.

Google bought Motorola for exactly the same reason. Didn't see any of the anti-Apple brigade bring that up though? Oh wait, it's fine if it's anyone but Apple doing it.

I didn't know google bought Motorola, but in googles case I'm not aware of any lawsuits filed by them for anything as trivial as what Apple are doing.

This is from a company who have said they absolutely dislike patent wars and the patent system.
