No, but our government, who has over the past 40 years is less about actually writing law themselves and more about "delegating authority" and allowing non-elected people to write law, pass laws that allow for un-elected people to make the "rules" and "policies" which are then enforced by the law.

Except a Nexus 7 isn't a walled garden. I can install any sort of competing app store (like Amazon's for instance) on a Nexus 7 (while not rooted or jailbroken) and Google/Asus doesn't give a flip that I have bypassed the Google Play store.

Meanwhile rooting a walled garden Kindle Fire and installing the Google Play store is what this ridiculous "law" is concerned about: tablets/e-readers that are designed to be locked into one specific content delivery network, including the Kindles, the Nooks, and most likely Apple's iPads.

With the US judicial system as far as i understand i don't see how they can make it hold in court short of jury manipulation.
Not that they can't prove that the device was jailbreaked but convincing jurors that the defendants fooling around with a device he or she bought is illegal seems far fetched, Unless the defense consist of the lawyer from simpsons and a rabbit.
Hell this would probably fail in most states where courtroms aren't supplied with hallucinogenic drug vapors.
Stuff like this should be scoolbook examples for law school students and every damned lawmaker in the world, Don't make laws that has no basis in common sense.

Off Topic damned netflix. Why do american companies go out with badass wannabes in illfitted suits instead of fixing their tech before showing it to the media.

Over to you whoever is next
