Thank you sooooo much dude!!! ^_^

I will confirm with my M4A89TD PRO/USB3 within the next few weeks.

Now i'm on the fence for upgrading my CPU!!

I've got a 955 running at 4.1GHZ on the M4A89GTD pro. I game, some decoding, basic stuff. Runs fine. Got crossfire 6970s on it.

Is an upgrade to piledriver worth it? Or am I just doing this because i haven't upgraded in years and I was disappointed with Bulldozer?

The FX-6300 is running head to head with Phenom II x6 1100T. So I would say yes.

Yes I should upgrade? Or yes that i'm just bitten by the upgrade bug?

I've done some reading/research - seems that the 8350 (6300 is tested, but they are super similar) is actually not that much better than the old PII

Be looking to get a nice 8320 when we have got christmas out the way:D. I will either keep the 1055T or swap with my bro for his lack lustre 1090BE (3.9Ghz...... 1.55v!). And let him have a good clocking X6 and keep the 1090BE for spares. He got the "messy" end of the stick with that one (and i got a £155 4.1Ghz "beast"biggrin.gif). Not sure how far i can push the 8320 on this H50 BUT if i can get it to a level that matches this X6 i will be happy.

Will be great for encodes. And a little bit of future proofing (with 8Gb of 1866/2000Mhz DDR3). Great that owners of 8 Series MoBo's can have a "cheap" upgrade path rather than having to upgrade a still good platform for nothing but a number on a sticker!! Shame that the manufacturers chose to play "stick your head in the sand" and not say if it would work or not (looking at YOU ASUS!!). But thanks to dixon01974 we now know that for some of us it will be just a CPU swap.

I hope if anyone else tries a PD in an "unsupported" and it works that they might post in this thread so others can benefit:thumb:.

Thanx.

dixson01974 is it possible for you (or others that have PD on 890FX/GX) to post some Prime95 action? (e.g. Blend with custom RAM tested)

Just to be sure it is also stable.

Thanks.

I bet there are loads of 890xx users out there who would go for it. It would be silly for me to go out and buy a 990xx MoBo over this one as for what I USE i would notice no difference.
To just drop in an 8320 would be great. BUT i don't think it offers the performance over my X6 to warrant purchasing another MoBo. If it can be done why not your users would be happy and maybe buy ASUS next time OR just say "nope" people see lesser MoBo manufacturers doing it and think hmmmm buy ASRock next time.
Thanx.

Your board should support Vishera cpus,np.
Maybe not officially..but should run.Your board and Crosshair IV.
Thuban..still the best rolleyes.gif It is what it is.

I can't bring myself to buy a new AMD chip. frown.gif I thought I would release day but..the enthusiasm and IPC just isn't there for me frown.gif .

Yeah that would a great update for me too (I have M4A89TD/Pro USB3), but before buying I would like to see some stability tests (and benchmark if it is not too much asking).

Bye.

Yeah that would be great if anyone could do that:thumb: Also any strange "quirks" at all? Does Turbo Core work & Cool & Quiet? Still great knowing we have at least some upgrades available (started thinking i had built another "one CPU wonder"). I didn't think BD was enough to upgrade to over this X6 BUT PD has just "enough" to make it worthwhile (but not if i had to buy a new MoBo!). Seems silly ASUS isn't at least going to say it works BUT BETA. Instead just keeping quiet.

I figure they have 990xx boards to shift BUT it would be good PR i would say imho. Also was the ram tested 1866Mhz DDR3 or was it something less (that would then work at 1866Mhz). I ask because i have 4Gb of 1600Mhz that will do 1733 with a tweak or two and wondered if this "relaxed" some hidden timings in the BIOS?

Thanx.
