I love it. It looks great!

I have to say, one of the most unappealing things about the stock case are the green tool-less knobs. I thought that they would be impossible to be made beautiful.. you proved me wrong thumb.gif

I think the badges will stay, I mean it is a sleeper after all. What beter way to advertise.ph34r-smiley.gif

Funny story just happened with this computer a couple of days ago.

I had a friend come over that looked over at the computer and said, "You know I think its time for you to upgrade that old computer." He was kinda making fun of it.rolleyes.gif

Needless to say after i slid the case to the side so he could see the innards he was like ***! I let him bounce around the web/look at videos, open some programs like microsoft word/excel, play some games and he changed his tone. lol

SSD was one of the best purchases I made and the crossfire setup has been pretty reliable as well. I didnt notice any issues whatsoever.

Oh and for anyone whos wondering..... This is what a computer from about 12 years ago looks like.(well premade one)thumb.gif

I even still have the old Gateway mousepad.

Yean the pentium 4 badge is a keeper, plus it was designed for windows XP! lol

lol

Well I figured since the board came with the usb 3.0 cable i'd make use of it.biggrin.gif

The SSD is also in that bay as well. Thats why they're shifted towards the top and not centered in the panel.

Well I've been working on my setup for the past couple of months to make it a little better. A couple of goals I set for myself were:

1. Make more aestheticly pleasing to me. (inside anyway biggrin.gif )
2. Upgrade certain components.
3. Keep airflow as good as possible with limited space/design

The first thing I wanted to change was the motherboard heatsinks color. It always bothered me that the baby blue color of the motherboard heatsinks didnt really match the blue of the vengeance ram. So I found the answer in duplicolors metalcast paints for cars. A product Ive wanted to try for a while but didnt really need to use it on any of my cars. Here is the outcome:

quick comparison of the old color.

This was a very very very light coat of the spraint paint since its translucent and I did not want to hinder the heat dissapation abilities of the heatsinks. Here is a nice close up shot.

After that was done I wanted to upgrade the cooling and decided on an h100i and some Corsair SP and AF series fans throught. I also wanted to setup up the rad as a top exhaust and being the power supply was currently taking up most of the space up there it was time for some tweaking. smile.gif The outcome was mounting the power supply in the the bottom front of the case. Needless to say that there was just enough room to place the power supply under the drive bays, but there was another issue other than fitting the power supply there. It was mounted with the intake fan facing the front of the case leaving the wiring on the motherboard side of the case BUT the exhaust of the power supply now face the bottom of the case. The problem with that is that the power cable needs to be plugged in from the bottom and most of the airflow would have been blocked. I could have just purchased some tall case feet and called it a day at that point, but the last thing I wanted is hot air hitting my legs. lol

Soo I thought why not a pedestal to help me out! biggrin.gif Well remeber the 20 dollar computer I purchased for parts, that was the best 20 bucks spent being I used that to fab up a pedestal. tongue.gif

Here are some more pics of the outcome:

The donor pedestal that was spot welded on.

and after:

I had to weld a thin plate to support/install the drive intake fans and power supply. The original front was perforated and didnt really work for this.

before:

after:

So the 2 80mm holes are intake fans for some 80mm fans that will use to intake over the drive bays. The large 140mm is of course the power supply's intake, and the rectangular slot will believe it or not be used as a cold air intake into the main chamber of the pc. (more on that later)

Here is the exhaust/plug end of where the power supply will be mounted:

Here is the power supply mounted:

The 20 dollar computer just keeps on giving up its goodies as I used the power supply to fab up an extension for the power supply.biggrin.gif
