My Unraid Build (Finalized but need some help for Casing for over 10 drives)

Thread Starter
Hello,

I have posted numerous threads here and after some digging through, I have concluded my build, however I am unable to find the right case for my build. My budget for the case alone would be less than $100.

Below is my build: (Currently will house 6 HDDs, but I am looking to go more than 10 in the future)

CPU: Intel® Pentium® Processor G620
Motherboard: ASRock B75 PRO3 (Mainly for it's 8 Onboard Sata)
RAM:4GB Kingston DDR3
Case: HELP NEEDED
Power Supply: Corsair TX850M
Parity Drive: 3TB Caviar Green
Data Drives: 3 x 3TB Caviar Green, 1 x 1TB WD Black, 1 x 1TB Seagate Barracuda, 1 x 1TB Samsung F3

What type of case are looking at firstly? Are you displaying the case or it being closeted

Willing to mod at all? OR get a cheaper case and get an additional 5.25" to 3.5 bay kit

I use a NZXT Source 210 for my media server, it has 8 HDD bays thumb.gif

And you can obviously add more if you want to replace your ODD bays....

I was thinking,

For Azza Helios 910,

Does it mean that it can contain 4 x 3.5" drives internally, and if I were to add XIGMATEK 4 in 3 HDD Cage, I could have 12 x 3.5" drives outside which totals about 17 x 3.5" drives in 1 case?

This looks like a very cheap and efficient way to meet your needs, you'll just have to put some ingenuity into wire management to keep it looking good.

That will work too, it seems you can have 16 drives if I did my calculations correctly, 3 x HDD cages would give you 12 HDD bays + the original 4 thumb.gif

Ah yes, you got me.

My maths failed for a moment there. I was reading your post repeatedly and then I realized that I counted 12 + 4 = 17 rolleyes.gif

Thank you biggrin.gif

By the way, how about this? CoolerMaster Storm Trooper

I am still confused on how many drives that could fit into this case?

That case looks like it comes with 5.25 to 3.5 hardware, so you would get 8 from their hardware and you should be able to add another one for an additional 4, so 12 total.

How has this build worked out for you? I am looking to build my first htpc and thought this setup may work for what I want.
Looking at the picture for that case it looks li in e the bottom 4 5.25in drive bays are taken up by 4 3.5in drives so there is only 5 bays left. I would look into 5 3.5 to 3 5.25 hot swap bays like one by icydock. If you have a bad drive you need to remove 4 drives to get to the one thats. Bad. Uf you have hop swap bays it makes adding or replacing a drive a breeze. The other option is a fractal design xl it can hold 10 drives and it has 4 5.25 bays.
