Which Water Block for my EVGA GTX 670?

Thread Starter
My GPU is the 4GB Superclocked EVGA GTX 670. I know that the FTW+ model is compatible with the full cover water blocks for the GTX 680, but I know that the PCB on my card is slightly shorter. I was looking into the XSPC water blocks because I care more about looks than a couple degrees cooling difference and the LEDs around the outside are just too hard for me to resist. Is the full cover GTX 670 compatible with this card even though it's meant to fit the smaller-shaped cards? Or will the 680 equivalent work with this particular video card? Or is my only option one of the universal blocks that only covers the GPU itself?

Thank you in advance.

there should be compatabliity list for the cards and blocks..as some 670s have smaller pcbs then 680s and some have the same size as the 680..and the universal coolers work ok but the vrams arent under water.just the chip

I know that EK has one but I thought theirs only applied to their own products?

As far as I can tell the 670 Superclocked has the same PCB and layout as the stock 670s, so just getting a normal 670 full-cover block should work perfectly. Take your pick from them, though personally I'd go with a Heatkiller or AquagraFX. smile.gif

Thank you both, I understand now, and had I done a little bit of searching I could have avoided having to ask this tongue.gif.

Do you know of any fundamental problems with the XSPC Razors, or are those just the higher-end water blocks? I'm only going to have one loop for my CPU and GPU until I feel the need for a second GPU, so I'm already not too terribly concerned about a couple degrees difference in temps.

I've got two of the EK-FC680 Supremacy waterblocks on my two GTX670 FTW's. They fit perfectly.
Originally, I bought the EK-FC670 waterblocks but when I went to mount them it didn't work with the FTW version. Doh!

Personally, I wouldn't go for the new EK Supremacy series waterblocks again because of the linkage system. You have to use EK's SLI linkage system which is nowhere near as good as just having some plain G1/4 threads available to screw into.

EK-FC670 waterblocks with GTX670 FTW: FAIL

EK-FC680 waterblocks with GTX680 FTW: SUCCESS

EK-FC Bridge

EK-FC470 waterblocks with GTX470 FTW: I prefer this style of waterblock linkage myself.

Hope that helps.

Quite a bit actually, thank you. So you prefer just cooling your graphics cards in series, rather than parallel?

The ones I mentioned are the top-end blocks. You can easily go with any of the other full-cover blocks and come close to their performance, but they won't be built as nice or (IMO) look as good.

I have to agree, the Heatkiller is an absolutely love water block, and the AquagratX is also extremely nice. I personally went with the HK as I love the look of the Hole Edition, and the build quality is absolutely impeccable, even the parts of the block that don't touch anything are machined to a perfect shine. I would absolutelyrrecommend the backplate tho, as the HK block is the heaviest GPU block I've ever held (its a solid block of copper).
