My Merlin SM8 Water Loop Plan

I have my Black Merlin SM8 now, will be ordering the Pedestal in spring. The plan calls for 3 XSPC AX Rads. One 360 mounted in the top section of the SM8 (only a 360 to allow for front bay equipment), With the top mounted pedestal sporting dual 480's. The loop will include a Swiftech Maelstrom Dual Bay Res/MCP35X2 Pump, an Aquaero 5 Pro Fan Controller, a XSPC R4E Mobo Water Block Set, a XSPC Raystorm Chrome CPU Water Block, Dual MSI Lightning GPUs with Aqua Computer Blocks, and the afore mentioned triple XSPC AX Rads. I will have 5 intakes for positive pressure, 3 exhausts. PC parts in Signature Rig. Most of then PC parts are purchased, just saving up for the water cooling parts. Should be done by spring. I have a few artistic mods in mind biggrin.gif

This loop calls for 22 compression fittings if you count the fill and drain lines (drawn in red) but I'm not sure how many 90 degree or 45 degree angle adapters I need yet.

prob gonna want to space our ur rads differently to optimize temps... so people will say it wont matter, but I think ull see better temps if you run a a pair of rads in front of ur CPU and another one after it, before your GPUs.

That way you have heat extraction from the GPUs after and before ur CPU and vice versa

I'm going for as few crosses as possible in my loop, for better or worse. A cleaner loop design is what I'm going for. The degree or two difference between the two schools of thought might even be made up by the 11x120mm total rad surface area. 8x120 of those rads get fresh cool external air as well.

I'm referring more to the water temp between the 2nd and 3rd GPU, but I guess its worth a try since GPU's are becoming more and more power efficient. Aside from that there's really not much to figure out except your rad mounting and more hands on stuff.

I got ya. That's TWO GPUs in my loop tho!! However, I'm just going to run it in a nice short happy circle. Not too concerned about optimal order.

As for rad placement, I can't mount the pedestal on bottom without sacrificing positive pressure. The bottom is home to the AX1200i and two intakes, with another two front intakes, with the rear fan switched to be an intake as well. Then 3 exhausts up top. The drawing reflects this arrangement.
