Razer Mamba Issues?

I've been looking to upgrade my mouse lately. I currently have a Death Adder 3.5G and I want something new.

I tried the Lachesis 5600 DPI but ended up returning it as the shape wasn't right for me.

I've only been at PC gaming for 6-8 months and I've only really used the Death Adder, aside from the 10 or so hours I spent using the Lachesis.

Anyways the Mamba is essentially the same shape only it has the rubber grips on the side, which to me seem like a great improvement.

A lot of people say it's no good though. Are they just hating on Razer or am I underestimating the PTE issue?

Does the second sensor help at all with the z-axis issue on the Mamba?

I read it has slow loading times for profiles, which is something I find completely irrelevant, I'm not going to do that often, if ever.

So I tried the Lachesis and it wasn't the PTE that made me return it, but the shape. I noticed the z-axis issue, but it doesn't seem like a game breaker. I lift my mouse and it moves down and to the right slightly. That's really not a problem for me. When I lift my mouse it's usually because I'm turning and haven't aimed at all yet. I never lift my mouse while shooting at someone. Also my death adder causes the cursor to move when I lift it too. It's not as predictable and sometimes it goes back when I set it down, but sometimes it can cause the cursor to move even more than the Lachesis did.

So what are the issues people have with the Mamba, and are they legitimate issues?

I'm not really worried about the mouse being worth the price. I can get the mouse for $20 off and even at that price I don't mind if I'm paying a little extra for the looks. I have no problem paying for the looks.

The only inkling I actually have with it is the battery life. It's not enough. I just run it wired now 100% of the time. Apart from that, it tracks really well on softpads (I think it's better on hard surfaces imo), and it has a damn good shape.

I have the Death Adder which is the same shape so transitioning shouldn't be an issue. Battery life wouldn't bother me. I can only play for 2-3 hours at a time at most.

You know I really like my Mamba. I've had a lachesis and loved it. I've tried the Death adder and I liked it too. the ergonomics of the mouse feels almost perfect. I've even tried a RAT7 and it just didn't do it for me. I've worn the center track wheel quite a bit in the year I've had it so it squeeks slightly when scroll down, but I'm sure I can fix it. I'd give it a 8.5 out of 10. I feel like there is room for improvement, but Is still a great mouse. thumb.gif

So I picked one up today, but I haven't opened it yet since I'm not at home.

I'll try it out tomorrow and see how it performs.

I've had a Razer Mamba wireless for the last two years which I've recently placed on my second rig. It's been such a great wireless mouse which had great response for gaming being wireless. Normal every day use I found it as good as any other wired mouse.

I'm now trying a new mouse which I love but if I should choose to purchase another wireless, the Razer Ouroubous the Mamb's upgrade is my next path. I had one minor set back when I first purchased my Mamba but that kind of stuff happens to all products from time to time. The final result was Razer stood behind their product and the refurbished Mamba they sent me back almost two years ago is still working fine. smile.gif

Seems experiences vary but in the end the truth is the Mamba is a great wireless mouse and very much uber in it's field next to only one other for gaming which would be the Cyborg 9. For me, both customer support, product warranty and product quality was positive with Razer.

When I had my issue with my Mamba I documented it as it was happening here: Razer Mamba - Wireless Issues & Razer RMA Experience

The mouse is a solid mouse with a weight that feels like it truly is a high grade wireless. The battery life can last almost a whole day before going dead on me. It's not much of a hassle because it's as easy as disconnecting the wire on the dock and attaching it directly to the mouse for hardwired mouse option and recharge the mouse simultaneously.

Dont know if off-topic, but has any mamba user here tried this firmware?

-New advanced tracking algorithm that replaces Dynamic DPI Scaling"

I have one of the older Mamba's before they came out with the later version, the only huge issue I had with it was it had cursor jitter when trying to click in one spot without moving the mouse even on later firmwares. It also wouldn't track correctly on dark surfaces. Bought the mamba along with a Razer Sphex mousing surface, and it was impossible to use the two together.

Other issues were minor ones: slow software that froze/crashed, the rubber sides fell off really quickly, mouse wheel needing lubing right away for squeaking.

Was a sexy mouse though, if only those issues hadn't soured my opinion of it.
