I just tried out the lift of distance customization. I set it to 1mm. The mouse doesn't track at 1 CD. So it would appear it actually works... The only this is that you have to have surface calibration on to change the LoD, and it says you can't use surface calibration unless you have a solid coloured mouse pad.
The PTE z-axis issue isn't an issue. At least not to me. The mouse cursor will jump when you lift the mouse, but honestly this happens just as bad on my death adder, only the DA is more random in where the cursor flies off to.
