I've found that it's even faster to just press Win + Q while in an app. That brings up a search bar for the current app you are in. Makes searching for mail / music a lot faster, and no clicking with the mouse.
Also, Win + Tab key! Lets you easily see what metro apps you have open, and makes it really easy to jump between them.
Win + D is also great for quickly jumping from a metro app to desktop.
On your desktop and need to search for a app? Win + Q
How about a file? Win + F
Settings? Win + W
There are also a ton of other shortcuts, just have to do a search for a list.
Windows 8 is really fast to move around in once you learn the keyboard shotcuts.
Overall, I like it better than 7.
You can also have both a metro app and the desktop up at the same time. Makes chatting using the messenger app a lot faster. Edited by AtomicFrost - 10/27/12 at 8:20am
