Problem getting "Line-In" to work from monitor

Thread Starter
Hi, I have my ps3 plugged into my monitor and i am trying to get the sound to play on my computer speakers instead of the monitors crappy tinngy speakers. It works fine if i plug my speakers into the monitors headphone jack but it takes a long time to move my computer and monitor every time i want to use my ps3.

So i want to use the stereo to stereo jack cable i bought to plug the monitor into the computers line-in jack and then play the sound over my pc speakers without ripping my whole setup apart when i want to play ps3.

Is there any reasons this doesn't work? like the cable is plugged from the line out jack on the monitor to the line in jack on the computer and i have it set up in the sound panel to 100% volume on line in and it is set to play on the computer speakers but i get no sound coming in.

Like if i plug my speakers directly into the monitor and move the stick i can hear it clicking around in the ps3 menus but when i take it out and try to use the stereo cable to go line in and then try moving the stick it doesn't get any signal. The little bars beside the input device don't move at all?

Am i doing something wrong or does "line-in" do something completely different then i think it does?

Any help would be appreciated. Getting very annoyed with this problem. Been screwing around for hours and nothing is working right.

Why don't you plug it in directly to your mobo's sound jacks?
