Upgrading Question

Right now I have a FX-4100, I'm actually quite pleased with its performance. I really want to upgrade my system now since I have the money, would it be worth getting a FX-8350 or going with Intel? Or should I fight off the wanting to upgrade urge and wait for Haswell? I was also planning on upgrading my board to a 990FX, if its worth buying a FX-8350. I just want another opinion, I've seen some benchmarks on the FX-8350, I just want I just wanna hear what you guys think.

Well, I'd say your weakest component is your video card, assuming your Sig Rig is what we're speaking of.

I would personally suggest getting a 7950, overclocking it and calling it a day thumb.gif

However, I will say that going to an Intel setup will see a significant performance increase. Even going to a 2500K would be a big improvement CPU wise.

If i were you, and if you really want to upgrade now, or in the near future i would upgrade to intel. AMD seems to be going towards a dead end in their CPUs right now. If you're going to buy a new board anyway, you're better of buying z77 and going with IB. If you want to upgrade soon, but it's not urgent i would just wait it out for Haswell.

Forgot to add I was going to upgrade my gpu. Also planning on getting a aftermarket cpu cooler, and a new hdd and monitor.

FX-4100 performs well in all the games I play even with my GTS 250. So I could hold out until I see how Haswell is, then I'll make my decision.

If anyone has any more opinions feel free to reply.

From the research I've gathered by searching around google, Haswell is supposed to have a 10% performance increase over Ivy Bridge. Knowing that something better is always on the horizon, and Haswell not having DDR4. Also knowing my FX-4100 will not provide the best performance, should I just go with Ivy Bridge and wait until Broadwell or Skylake?
