Well it depends on your hardware really. Id say if you are water cooling more than 2 graphics cards and a CPU I'd keep the backplate on. However if you have seen "The Modest Build" (a M8 which has no backplate) there is 3 GPUs + water blocks with no problem, or so that I've heard.

I'll check out that build... Ty... I am currently planning 2-3 WCed 7970s, so I think it would probably b a safer bet to just cut out the slot that I will need to (assuming the mock up works)
