Sapphire Radeon 6850 Bios Questions

Hey guys,

I need some help with my radeon bios, i'm trying to update it from version 13.010.000.003.000000 to version 013.012.000.021.000000 and i have several questions:

1. When i opened the original bios (i used ati winflash to download it from the card) i noticed that its vendor id is 0x0000 aka generic, on the newer bios the vendor id changed to 0x174B which is the correct one for sapphire. Windows device manager also reports vendor id of 0x174B.

Should i change the vendor id in the bios that i want to use or should i ignore the different vendor ids ?

2. After i flashed i got windows bsod 3b which is related to a software conflict? the video card works well in recovery environment (hirens) and boots normally to windows after i flash back with original bios, should i try to uninstall the radeon driver and then reinstall on a flashed card? or could this issue be related to the card not working well with new bios version? any insight on this might be helpful.

Unless there is a specific issue with your card, I don't recommend you flash, could leads to unwanted headaches or worse - a dead card.

I tried to flash because i assume there are performance updates and fixes in the newer bios, this worked with a radeon 4xxx before and then gained better overclock.

Is there a way to find the chance log of the newer bios version ? i couldn't find it anywhere.
