Mechanical Keyboard Help

Thread Starter
I was deciding on getting a mechanical keyboard but I dont know which one.

I was looking at three different models.

Das Professional Model S (Cherry MX Brown)
Das Professional Model S (Cherry MX Blue)
Corsair K90 (Cherry MX Red)

Any help on which one is the best?

Thanks

each have a different feel to them.
In terms of generalities, gamers prefer Blacks/Reds, typists prefer Blues, and anyone in between prefers Browns. Best way to pick is to go to a store that has demo mech keyboards out and try each key out

Are those the only three you're looking at? There are a bunch of great mechanical keyboards out there with a lot of big and small differences. What are you looking for in a keyboard?

If you're just trying to decide which switch you like best, go try some out at a store like Buska103 said, that's really the best way to figure out your preference without learning the hard way (spending $100+ on one and then realizing you don't like it as much as another).

It would benefit us if we knew what you spend your time doing. e.g., typing, gaming, internet. Then based on that we can give you a general recommendation on what we think is best for you. Like Buska said you should really try to demo the keyboards first. Personally I've got a Realforce 87u (Topre), and a CMStorm Quickfire with Blues. I love them both, but they are both very different in feel and serve different purposes.

There aren't any stores in my area that I can try them out at. But I've tried out the Das Professional S with Cherry MX Blue switches. I liked the way it felt but it was definitely really loud.

I play a lot of FPS games, racing games, and do a lot of fast typing when I'm writing essays for school.

You could get o-ring dampeners to soften the "clack" of the key caps bottoming out, but Blues are loud either way. I think either Browns or Reds would be best for you then. I would go with the Das with Browns over the MMO board, but I don't play MMO's nor need the extra keys.

I would go with the DAS with browns as well. I too have been looking at the k90 because it had nice led backlighting. But when I thought about it it made no sense to have it because I never look at my keyboard anyway tongue.gif And I like the idea that nobody who can't type without looking at the letters could use my computer tongue.gif
