I was unable to find a post like this but is it pointless to OC my CPU & GPU, cool with a CPU & GPU water blocks and only have the PC on about 4 hours when I get back from work, 10+ when im off (some weeks im of work then off again and some weeks its off 3 days in a row) and every now and again for a 24 hours + to DL files?

I'm sure it would be slightly unnecessary, but excluding the video card on water, I'm doing about the same thing you are. Though 4 hours is more like 8-10 hours. I mean, I COULD leave it on 24/7 if I wanted, it is stable enough to do that, but I don't enjoy having a room that is +10 - 15 degrees hotter than the rest of the house. So I've just started turning off my rig when I won't be using it. Also having an SSD makes booting irrelevant, and it's nice having a freshly "restarted" computer every time I sit down.

You could fold on that rig and leave it on when you're not using it. Then those OC's will really help. thumb.gif

I thought about folding, but from the amount of heat my cpu would put out during prime95 stability testing, I don't think I could stand it. Though winter is upon us here...

Well, the way I see it watercooling is universal.. so it lasts until the pump breaks thumb.gif speaking if you pass on the pricey full cover waterblock and go with a MCW82 or something else comparable for half the price and triple the life thumb.gif

I was pulling your leg. wink.gif

But yeah, crack a window for a couple minutes when you get in from work to cool down the room. Then sit and enjoy a nice bout of pew pew (or whatever it is that floats your boat). thumb.gif

i guess i should ask is it better to leave it on

thx for the tips, wish everyone else was on topic as you...

Say if I water cool and OC the CPU and GPU (for the fun of OCing) and turn it off at night. Will it take the water longer to cool cause its been off? Then cause its not at its peak cooling casue its been off for awhile will the the OCed parts perhaps damaged?
