Asus GPU Tweak Memory Clock Question

Thread Starter

Looks like Asus GPU Tweak reports my memory clock by 4 times what my GPU-Z reports. Is the software supposed to be like this? I thought it was MHz!

GPU-Z doesn't read it correctly and measures it at 1/4th, the true speed is 4800Mhz.

I see, thanks! I was coming from MSI Afterburner and it reported the same memory clock speed as GPU-Z. What unit is GPU-Z and Afterburner reporting in?

They just read it differently, just multiply x4. It's about time they fixed that to be honest, as it does confuse a lot of people that aren't tech savy.

I started to wonder why memory clock has 2 different numbers of measurement. I browser several manufacturer's website and I found something interesting.

From Asus's website
5000 MHz ( 1250 MHz GDDR5 )

Is it like RAM measurement, when we want to get the numbers in PC-XXXX from DDR-XXXX we have to multiply it by 8? For example from DDR3-1600 to PC3-12800. Something like that?

I see it now. Differences in readings are due to memory type difference. Thanks for the help!

I have exactly the same thing which is how i found this thread but when i clicked apply on GPU tweak i got a bsod and when my computer started again it wouldnt find the gpus so i restarted again then everything was fine and i thought it might have been caused by asus trying to quadruple my memory clock im afraid of using it again any ideas of what caused it?

Trixx reads it fine, as does Afterburner, Radeon Pro, and Aida64.

although the last 2 arent really OC programs.
