Except the Atom, then again that's weaker than a Pentium 3 or something

I have found that Win8 doesn't appear to like multiple instances of gpu-z running with Warfighter. Got constant crashes last night, still not sure what's wrong. Will probably try running AB for monitoring and see if that's better.

Also have bad to lower my OC with Win8 due to instability....

To the comment about only receiving 10 copies some stores received 50, most received 30 and we sold 50.

Surface pro will be expensive but be worth it.

Like has been said before ARM has 1 thing going for it. Low power draw. Can't transfer my x86 programs to ARM so I'm not going. Heck the next revision of Intel processors are going to have a TDP 10W They're already into ARM territory at 10 TDP.

windows 8 may be good or bad (haven't tried it yet in person). but touch screen laptops/desktops are just dumb. it's just not ergonomic to have your hand outstretched all of the time. ms needs to focus on keyboard commands and trackpad gestures-NOT touch.

I think the article was trying to show that there was a lot of interest in the Surface Tablet, but I don't see how it can currently compete with Apple or Google. Surface RT is nothing more than a possible catalyst to get people interested in Windows based mobile devices. Sure it has great hardware and software that comes with it (I am assuming since haven't used it yet), however this is not sustainable in the long run. They also have a long road ahead of them, with Apple having a huge lead in the tablet market and Android in the smart phone market. First off there is a large gap in the number of apps for Windows mobiles vs Apple and Android. Until they get support from developers I don't see how they can really entice people to switch or join their side. There is also no incentive to switch ecosystems. People who have invested lots of money in apps, music or movies from Apple store or Play store will lose that money by switching to Surface. So unless Microsoft comes up with a way to allow you to "transfer" your apps you bought in Apple store or Play store to Microsoft, I don't see a large number of people switching. Thirdly I don't see Surface RT being a big seller to corporations to replace laptops or desktops due to the lack of software compatibility, other than Microsoft Office Suite. Corporations have invested millions in software licences and you can't run that software on Surface RT. So unless they can get all the developers of the that software to create compatible software for the Surface RT it will be hard to get corporations to switch. Maybe Surface Pro will be better.

I like the idea of of the Surface RT. I want to replace my laptop in the future, but I want to replace it with something that can run the same software that I currently own. Surface RT doesn't fit that niche. While I have not invested a lot in Android Apps (maybe ~$20), I want to be able to take those apps to the next device I buy and once again Surface RT doesn't fit that niche. I also wanted a tablet that was smaller than 10" and Surface RT doesn't fit. So in the end I decided to invest in a Nexus 7 because it had more of the things I wanted in a tablet.

Just my 2cents.gif.

Edit: I also don't see any reason to upgrade my Windows 7 machines to Windows 8. Until there is a huge performance gain or software is written to only work with Window 8, I will stick with Windows 7.

All of that^^^ ..?

Just to say that it's too big for you?   ( "I also wanted a tablet that was smaller than 10"...)

I'm very interested in the Surface as a replacement for both my old HP laptop and my Touchpad. Too bad about the pricing though ($499 for the 32GB is kind of expected but $129 for the keyboard is outrageous)...
