Thread Starter
I have to be completely honest from the get go, I'm an AMD person... my last 3 builds have all been AMD. This is why I need help to look past my loyalty to what would actually benefit me more.

I'm coming up on a new build and have my case, ram, vid card, etc all picked out.... the only thing still on the fence is the most important: CPU/Mobo.

The decision I'm torn with is FX8350 w/ Crosshair V F-Z, or I5 3570K with Asrock Z77 Extreme4. The I5 will run me about 75 bucks cheaper due to the Asrock mobo being on sale for 130 here (8350 and 3570k in Canada are pretty much priced equally).

I mainly use my PC for gaming and encoding video. My main questions are is this even a fair comparison with an RoG board against random asrock, should I be looking at a similar priced board? Saying I go for a better Z77 board to price match the Crosshair V, how does the intel vs amd war fare then?

Looking for all opinions, Intel and AMD people... don't be afraid to spill blood in this thread, I'll read it all.

Thanks in advance all, this is a hell of a choice as I probably wont do another build for 4-5 years.

I have used AMD and Intel, and I would say that with the encoding, you will have a better time with the FX8350 than the i5. Also, the AM3+ socket still has CPUs to come, unlike the 1155. I would go for the FX.
If you have the chance, put that extra $75 towards an i7 3770k, then the choice would be with intel.
