What laptop to buy? - Page 2

Asus will be releasing their UX51 line soon. Those are looking to be the best Win8 laptops right now in my opinion. They even have one with Raid 0 SSD's to reach your super high $2500 budget. Same price as rMBP but fully loaded and running a man's OS

Show me a laptop that is not used and not alienware for under 950$ (With either sli or crossfire).
I bought mine and wife's for 1600$ Both X8100/NP8190
Also mine had upgrade's but I parted my machine at one time to get my wife's machine up running since her machine crap out due to a 940 overheating. (Same laptop just SLI 260's).
No my friend I took a great deal.

that makes it a better deal, but to be fair, I even read the post as you bought a used laptop with 5870 for $950 and thought, hmm depending on when you bought it, that was a bad deal...

$1600 for 2 is a great deal though.

On topic.

Speedster, To get better help, you really need to tell us what you want in a notebook before you we can give you a reasonable recommendation, but if you're looking at macbooks, you must have a form factor and size in mind... maybe just a bit more info on use...

No my friend I took a great deal.

$50 says mine smokes yours in every game out there?

I paid $900 for mine and it's used. I really wouldn't consider yours to be worth more than that, even brand new. The screen of that machine isn't very good in the slightest, viewing angles are terrible even on a good day. The GPUs are only good when both are fully utilized in game. The CPU is outdated considerably. Mine is leagues more powerful, 920XM, with the potential to be even more insane if I wish (3GHz 24/7 overclock). Realistically, you might THINK it's a good deal, but my GPU scores within around... 15% of your two, in perfect scaling Crossfire. rolleyes.gif

On top of that, no BluRay drive and no SSD. You essentially paid for a sub-par machine that's just that. >_> It's not worth $900 with those specs.

Once again, if you would say what you're planning to do with it, that would make giving advice much easier.
