Windows 8 upgrade not working - Page 3

Download the latest stable drivers from nvidia so they are ready to go , shutdown, plug in card and then boot and try installing. If it won't boot with the card in that is very weird. Could be the os is incompatible with the board and card together , not incompatible but buggy , or maybe burn your ISO to a DVD or make a boot USB and do a clean install with card installed. Never just upgrade your os.

Already tried the above several times and it did not work. The only thing that has changed is that now it won't boot without any drivers installed and the card installed.
Also, I did actually do a clean install of Windows 8 and not just an upgrade since the upgrade was not working for some reason.
Also, up to 2 days ago (ie: sunday) it worked fine, so something has made it go wrong, however I cannot find out what.

If you tried to upgrade and it went odd , then maybe you should unplug any other drives except primary and do a fresh install again. With the card installed. You should not need drivers for the card while installing or even using the desktop. I can't understand what would happen that it worked fine and all of a sudden it won't.let you plug the card in.

I'm not really sure where you're going with this, but after 3 failed attempts at performing an upgrade last week, I did a clean install and then basically used my PC without any issues for a week until yesterday

What version of the nvidia drivers are you using? That's an Nvidia system file that you're having trouble with...

If you're using Beta drivers, use the official ones, or the other way around.

Some stock standard tried and true fixes:

- Try the card in another pci slot (if you have one)

- Blow out the current slot and card of any dust

- As the above post says don't use beta drivers or even try an older driver.

Failing that go into windows event viewer and see if that gives you some more info.

will try anothe PCIe slot, I was using the latest official drivers and event viewer doesn't give much info other than that the system shut down unexpectedly.

Just narrowing down stuff. It is definitely nvidia related. Like above post says use the other slot. Also, download driver cleaner pro and use it in safe mode to clear out old drivers for nvidia.

Okay, cleaned the slots, tried another slot as well, it made no difference, nor did using other drivers.
