sorry, when I upgraded to bulldozer i gave my 1055T to my friend. His computer was a P4, lol. Had to help a friend out!

If i had my 1055T still I would bench it. I will say this though, there is no comparison wink.gif

Any chance you can test this X264 benchmark?

so are you saying that a 7850 bottle necked the new fx 8320?

I know a gtx680 sure doesn't bottleneck an FX8350. smile.gif

No, you are putting words in his mouth. All he said is that the 6870 is pretty old (still a great card) but, I would consider it a low end card as well now. Considering you can snag a 7850 for about 30$ more and that being a lot more powerful. And that is amd's new mid card line up. Therefore making the 6870 a low end card when looking at amd's line up in its entirety.

Fair enough, I'll be upgradeing to a FX 8320 when possible, and I'll still be holding onto my 1055T, I'll do them myself then

Unigine is purely a GPU based benchmark, with CPU speed having very little to do with score. This is not bottlenecking, it is just the way the bench works. Can't comment on JC2 bench though.

Example:

3770k at 4.5 gives 3562
3770k at 5.2 gives 3609

HD6870 can still max out most games at 1080p. So yes it is still considered a mid-range card.

Having just upgraded from a stock 8120 to an 8350 myself today, these benchs are pretty accurate. One game I saw a huge difference in was skyrim though, CPU bound places where my stock 8120 was just under 30fps are now almost 50fps... It was a very nice jump thumb.gif

Wish you could of done some kind of DAW benchmark illustrating audio performance rather than rendering/video. A project loaded up with tons of tracks and plugins (reverbs, multiband compressors, vst-i's etc...) showing if the piledrivers can handle it better than bulldozers (no audio dropouts/glitches and maybe lower cpu usage).

I'm using Sonar X1 with 955 right now and it really strugles when using vst-i's and doing input monitoring with plugins. But apparently Windows 8 LOVES Sonar (most likely due to better task scheduler improvements?). A test I just read today had all kinds of improvements on same hardware (Intel though) using Windows 8 vs Windows 7.

So looks like Windows 8 will actually be a worthwhile upgrade for me and hopefully a FX-8350 as well biggrin.gif

That would be very very hard to benchmark, but as a reaper user, I can run a bass DI, a full drum kit with individual outputs, four rhythm guitar tracks, a couple leads+ harmonies and vox, no problem.
