trying out wayland- anyone else?

now that it's hit the 1 release, I going to give it a shot (although I think the AUR packages are still at 0.99) and its demo WM weston. as far as I can tell, weston is just a demo and no other real window managers support it, although I hear KWin and Compiz plan too. you can get something half usable by install qt5 support, etc etc, but I plan just to try what weston has so far. has anyone else tried it? thoughts?

its an attempt to replace x.

http://wayland.freedesktop.org/

not yet usable mainly due to the lack of (any) support by any normal WMs

Is there any news on Ubuntu's switch to it? Mark Shuttleworth made noises about moving Unity onto Wayland last year, wonder if this brings them any closer?

Sorry to necro, but I found out about wayland and was curious if anyone had it running. I wasn't aware you could only play around with it and not actually test it as a compositor.

It appears Fedora either has it in 18, or will implement it in 19. 18 beta release was pushed back again due to issues with anaconda.
