In the market for a new mouse and pad.

Hi there,

The time has come where my mouse is starting to develop a fault with the side button. Specifically the one I use for Vent and TS so it's kind of a big deal to me. I have been using this Deathadder (OG 1800) for the past couple of years now and has served me very well.

I would love another deathadder and have noticed that there are a few variations now. Firstly there is the 3.5G which I heard wasn't as good as the OG 1800 version, please correct me if I am misinformed in anyway, and there is also the Back Edition which i believe is just a reskin of the aforementioned model.

I have also noticed that there is a rumor of a new edition coming out soon that boasts some pretty impressive specs, however, as I just said, it's a rumor. Does anyone have any information on this mouse at all?

Is it time to switch mice? I have used Roccats and Logitechs so would prefer to stay with Razer on this occasion. But what about other models...

  • The Taipan looks like a decent choice, has anyone any experience with this product at all?
  • As I like to shape of the Deathadder, would the Mamba be a good choice? I'm not looking to spend this amount but willing to fork out for the better option.
  • Any other models you would suggest looking at?

Now, if you're not bored and still reading, I would also like a new pad as my eXact mat is wearing now. I have seen quite a few pads but none of them seem to be available other than on Razer's store page... Again, looking for recommendations.

I won't list a budget as I don't feel this could really get out of hand in costs.

Sigh...

£100 mouse
£40 pad.

This is not what I am aiming to spend but what I will consider.

Sorry.

The Razer Ouroboros looks pretty good spec wise but looks over the top and it isn't out yet as far as I know (haven't done much research)

If you like the DeathAdder then I'd get another one. I have bought a new one before and immediately wanted to buy the previous one again.

Same goes for the mat.

Personally I hate Razer because all the products I've had have been poor quality.

I'd get a Corsair M90 and use Corsairs new mouse mat.

in terms of mousepad ive been holding out to get a Feenix DImora that just came out, but its been sold out and i havent had any luck yet. http://www.feenixcollection.com/dimora.html

I cant say whether its good or not, but just based off the looks and my great experience with the company i have high hopes. But dont quote me on that since ANYTHING can end up being a letdown. I would wait on reviews on it to pop up first

you can't go wrong with a deathadder... i've used both models and can say they're both great. it sounds like you're not the person to nit pick silly things on products so i think the deathadder would do you just fine.

as for the mousepad, puretrak talent or stealth.

out the door you're way under £100 with both and you'll be more than satisfied with the combo.

Don't get any new Razer stuff, forced login to use the driver. There are still good drivers for the current DA, though.

I've managed to find old drivers for my DA that don't require me to sign into anything. Are the drivers for the new items Synapse only? If so, I will look into it as you only really need the drivers if you want to do custom mapping and feature tweaking. I just want a good quality mouse that fits my play style.

If you already like your DA I'd suggest you buy another one as it has the top-notch sensor of this space-time.

If you're willing to switch, then stay away from razer and try the roccat savu or the Logitech G400.
DONT PICK ANY LASER BASED MOUSE (I'm saving you a lot of research with this, but I know laser is worse, there are facts and numbers involved).

For a pad, get the Puretrack stealth, cloth (more glide lifetime), low friction, best performance/value imho.
