Good website hosting services?

Thread Starter 
I'm looking for a good, cheap and reliable hosting service.I would like to register a custom domain along with the new site. I have hosted for free with a site called 000webhost.com, it was a good service considering it was free. I thought about godaddy but the other day I heard from the father of a friend that it was having reliability problems that is why he had to move to a different service.

I am open to any suggestions. it would be nice to spend under $10 a month for both the domain and the site.

Godaddy? Almost 100% uptimes and good compatibility with web apps (prestashop, wordpress). Also excellent customer services. thumb.gif

mmh...personally have had bad experiences with them. always trying to upsell, and gotta read small print making sure of what your getting.

GoDaddy is terrible. I've had great experience with Hostgator.

The CTO has even helped me out when needed.

If it's just for minimal use and/or personal use you could run one from your PC. Install XAMPP and get a domain from http://dot.tk and setup the DNS at http://freedns.afraid.org/

Although I'm sure GoDaddy has worked for plenty of people, I've also heard from quite a few who had a terrible experience, and plenty of downtime.

I've always used InMotion and never been disappointed, their customer service is fantastic and all the stuff you get with even the most basic business package is awesome. The personal plans are even cheaper but you're more restricted.

Never used HostGator but I hear they're a pretty good, cheap webhost as well.
